I’m Myisha, a comic creator, games artist, and illustrator from California. Drop me a line at myisha.haynes@gmail.com
Your students will learn how to create comics and engage in both collaborative and individual storytelling and creation in this 90-minute workshop. I’ll take them through character creation, story brainstorming, “camera” angles, and more! In this program, students are encouraged to come up with fun, silly ideas together and then work on their individual stories using the collaborative exercises as models. Beyond teaching comics, I also have experience teaching creative writing in Sacramento’s 916 Ink program, a local non-profit promoting literacy education, and tailoring programs for elementary, middle, and high school students.

What does a professional artist do day-to-day? How did I get started in my career? How do you take a comic from idea to finished product? I’ve discussed these topics and more at author talks given at schools from elementary to college, from Gault Elementary in Santa Cruz to California College of the Arts in San Francisco. I’ve also tabled at panels discussing my experience creating comics conventions, including Emerald City Comic Con, Bay Area Book Festival, and Columbus Crossroads Comics.
I am located in the Sacramento/Bay Area region, but am happy to discuss possible travel visits in other locations!
